Mark of a New Age

I haven't blogged in a good amount of time because I've been extremely busy ! College is right around the cornor. I leave August 18th and I am super excited , scared, anxious, and a whole rack of other things. Today I am waiting for Aaron to get off of work. Yesterday was our first year anniversary and boy has it been a crazy ride. We've had laughs, we'e had cries, we've laughed while crying. But all of it was worth it and I wouldn't take any of it back. When I go off to college he's still going to be here. The long distance is going to be hard but I'm going to try my best to make it work. Still not sure if college is the best move but I'm going to go for it. I already have my loans, my scholarships, and my stuff for the dorm. Stay tuned (: !

New Day

Woke up early this morning to get ready for work. I thanked god for a new day. Yesterday I went to the doctor's office with my Nana because she had a growth in her jaw. Thank the lord nothing was cancerous. She has to go to a follow up because she has a growth on her thyroid so please keep her in your prayers. Today I started with the graphics department in AFSCME. At first it looked boring, but there is a lot of learning potential. Not only for now but for my future career. Everyone here is really nice. We just ushered in a new Secretary of Treasury. She gave a very moving speech. For now I'm not doing anything. But I have a great feeling about this. Have a great day! Peace, Love, and Positivity !

Red, White, & Blue

Sorry I haven't posted anything recently. I've been super buisy. But, this week was the week of the fourth of July. We went to D.C and watched the fireworks over the water. How romantic? How many people actually celebrate the real meaning of Independence Day? I know I don't. How can you? I feel as if the meaning of most holidays are lost and just used as a day off. Which I'm not complaining about because everyone needs a day of it's just that I think more important things should have holidays. Such as the first black president in a country that has come so far from its origins. Or the birth of Beyonce's daught Blue Ivy. Ha. I'm kidding. But no. Once in a while just stop and think about the real meaning. Learn your history, because it also effects your future. Peace , Love, and Positivity !

Random Thinking

When you're are younger you are asked , "What do you want to be when you grow up?" And if you are like I am , each year I answered a different career each year; Teacher, Police, Doctor, Artist, Singer, Architect. But why do you have to just pick one? Why can't you be 3 things? Being that I am an African American , woman all my life I have been told I won't be anything. That I will get pregnant by a man that doesn't love me , I will drop out of high school, and that I will work in retail my whole life. Needless to say, I graduated top of my class , have no children, and I am enrolled in a top university. So don't let what people say you will be effect who you become. Take each opportunity you can. Work hard. If everything begins to fall apart keep striving. Your break through is coming. Nothing worth anything comes easy. I don't say this because I can I say this because I know. Strive for excellence. You deserve it. Love, Peace, and Positivity.

Feeling Hot Hot HOT!

Went outside today and it is so HOT outside! I took my sister and my cousins to the pool and they loved it! So if you have to go make sure you are careful!
