Food for Thought

Food for Thought 6/26/12 :

Subject: Kindness

It's 6 o'clock on a Monday morning. You absolutely HATE mondays and getting up early and going to work but it pays the bills. You drive to your parking garage and of course your partners Sally and Rachel are late. They always come up with a lame excuse and you just bite your tongue. They're really nice but you wish that they would be on time. You lock your car, but you forget your [ Fill in the blank ] but of course you won't notice till you get to work. There's heavy traffic, (as always) so now your frustrated because if they would've been on time you would already be there. So NOW you're in a horrible mood. You go to a nearby breakfast nook , the usual spot, but todays there's a long line so now your really angry. You cuss out the employees throw your food on the floor and storm out. You get to the office and ignore everyone's greeting and head straight to the office. Where you sit and send nasty emails. Your days over so you go home, slam your door, and go to bed.

STOP!

Did you ever stop to realize how many people in America DON'T have jobs and are homeless? Next how many of those homeless people have cars? Probably zero. The ladies are late okay. But what can YOU do about it? NOTHING. If you rather spend more money paying gas that's fine. But gas prices are constantly rising so you might want to rethink it. NEXT , if you forgot that (Fill in the blank) is it really worth ruining your whole day? If it was that important, wouldn't you have remembered it? And next time just put it in a bag before you leave the house. NEXT how do you know that the employees at the breakfast nook weren't having an off day like you? How do you know if they are struggling to get by on minimum wage with 4 kids? You don't! And that may not be the case, and they might just have been careless, but they're human right? The same with the people in the office. What did they do? How would you like it if they did the same to you? You wouldn't because I wouldn't. I don't like people with funky attitudes so when I have one I keep it to myself. Now I'm not saying that no one's going to have a bad day EVER because everyone does. I'm just saying try focusing on the POSITIVES instead and the negatives won't seem so...... Negative (: Just some food for thought.

Subject: Giving

I'm asking you to open your mind for me. Go into your closet and count how many pairs of shoes you have. How many 5? 10? 15 pairs? Maybe even more? Now go into where you place your clothing. How many shirts do you have? How many pants? Now out of the clothes that you DO have , how often to you wear them? Do you know how many people are roaming the streets begging for food? Every minute a child somewhere is dying from thirst. They are dying from hunger. They are dying. Parents are unable to take care of their children. They are putting these children in the grave. How many leftovers do you throw away? How much food do you waste? When I worked at Pizza Hut, we threw away good food because it was made incorrectly. Food that could have been given. Food that could have been eaten. So maybe that one kid didn't have to die. So that parent didn't have to bury their child. America is crying. The WORLD is crying. Do you hear them? Do you hear the woman that has to prostitute herself every night for rent? Do you see the father that sells dope just to get his little girl a coat for the winter. Do you hear them? Do you see them? Awaken. Open your eyes. Wake up America. Compassion, Giving, and Love. Three things we're missing. Food for thought. Peace, Love, and Positivity.
