College Life

So I know I haven't added a new post in a while and I'm sorry about that. I just have been really buisy. But to catch you up on life, I have successfully moved in on campus. I moved in on the 18th . It rained so hard that day! But it was worth it. I have made so many new friends already. The hardest thing about being on your own is realizing your on your own. If you mess up, then it's on you. You can't call mommy or daddy and blame them. You have to take responsibility on your own. Last night there were these crazy parties. And most of them got shut down. The smell of weed filled the air. Alcohol was on everyones lungs. Bodies merged together and swayed to the music the DJ was playing. The lights seemed to bounce off each other, entertwining as they displayed their brilliant colors. Strings of broken hearts and one night stands gathered in the dark . The night was their time. My friends struggled to keep control of themselves and I felt as if I was on the outside looking in. My heart beated with anxiousness as each bang of the door entered the air. I was not intoxicated but I could not help but close my eyes and add myself to the mix. My body swayed to the left an the right as the music boomed through the speakers. But I knew it was time to go. I said my goodbyes, and just as soon as I left security came. Always listen to your gut feeling. It wont lead you wrong. Peace , Love , and Positivitey.

Almost There

Hey fam. I'm sitting on my step mothers bed in her new apartment with my sister and her two sons, my precious nephews. We're all watching All Dogs Go To Heaven. These are the moments I will miss the most. I'm struggling to come to terms that these people, my family members are the people I will miss the most. ALl my life I couldn't wait to get away from people that I know. But it's hard coming to terms that I wont see them as much as I want. My mothers have become my best friends. My sister also. I tell them everything. And I found Kevin, my step dad to be more of a father than my real one. He's a huge role model in my life. I don't know everything that will happen in the future, but it's loogking very bright. I have a new work study job, a little extra change, and all my paper work is set. I'm on my way to success. Love, Forgive, & LIVE

Today I recieved a phone call from my father. I never had a strong relationship with my dad. We've constantly argued and fought. But today he called me and told me that he was sorry. He told me that he loved me and always believed in me. He stated he was proud and wanted to see me before I left for college. Hours of crying and heartfelt moments we resolved our problems and execpted each other. You have to love and forgive people. Not for them, but for yourself. Live, Love, Peace, & Positivitey .

All You Need Is Friends & Family

I had  a rough night last night. My boyfriend of a year now broke up with me and I was feeling really down. I woke up the next morning and I didn't even want to get out of bed. I dragged my feet to the bathroom and hoped in the shower. My little sister and cousin , Lilly & Kennedy, invited me to play Mario Kart on the Wii but I declined. They then proceeded to beg me so I gave in. I was playing that game and then i found a smile on my face. They cheered me on as I turned the corners of all the stages and won each race. My best friend Jernee called and invited me to an outing. So we left the house and drove around town. Talk about fun! Just what the doctor ordered ! I felt way better. So when ever you're feeling down get out and about. You'll feel way better. Love , Peace, and Positivitey fam (:

More SelfLESSness

My aunt, her daughter, and her husband came into town yesterday. I had to pack up all of my things and move out of my room. It took weeks for me to pack up all of my belongings. When they finally got here I had to sleep in the cold basement on the uncomfortable futon. I woke up at 4 o'clock in the morning due to the discomfort and decided to move to the couch. The discomfort was the same. When I finally woke up my back was aching. It still is as I post this. I'm trying to stay positive, but it's hard. My anger is getting the best of me so I'm trying to vent. I only have two more weeks till I move to Norfolk. I'm not sure I can hold out till then.

Good Morning !

It's Sunday morning and it's so bright outside I love it ! Hopefully the family and I will go out. Aaron (My boyfriend) , is working all day today so he can't go anywhere. While I'm blogging, I'm listening to Frank Ocean's new CD Channel Orange. It's amazing and if you haven't heard it you're missing out. I'm not returning to my internship. It was GREAT though. I thank God for the experience and opportunity. Another thing to put on my resume. (: Be blessed fam  ! Peace, Love, & Positivity.

Mark of a New Age

I haven't blogged in a good amount of time because I've been extremely busy ! College is right around the cornor. I leave August 18th and I am super excited , scared, anxious, and a whole rack of other things. Today I am waiting for Aaron to get off of work. Yesterday was our first year anniversary and boy has it been a crazy ride. We've had laughs, we'e had cries, we've laughed while crying. But all of it was worth it and I wouldn't take any of it back. When I go off to college he's still going to be here. The long distance is going to be hard but I'm going to try my best to make it work. Still not sure if college is the best move but I'm going to go for it. I already have my loans, my scholarships, and my stuff for the dorm. Stay tuned (: !

New Day

Woke up early this morning to get ready for work. I thanked god for a new day. Yesterday I went to the doctor's office with my Nana because she had a growth in her jaw. Thank the lord nothing was cancerous. She has to go to a follow up because she has a growth on her thyroid so please keep her in your prayers. Today I started with the graphics department in AFSCME. At first it looked boring, but there is a lot of learning potential. Not only for now but for my future career. Everyone here is really nice. We just ushered in a new Secretary of Treasury. She gave a very moving speech. For now I'm not doing anything. But I have a great feeling about this. Have a great day! Peace, Love, and Positivity !

Red, White, & Blue

Sorry I haven't posted anything recently. I've been super buisy. But, this week was the week of the fourth of July. We went to D.C and watched the fireworks over the water. How romantic? How many people actually celebrate the real meaning of Independence Day? I know I don't. How can you? I feel as if the meaning of most holidays are lost and just used as a day off. Which I'm not complaining about because everyone needs a day of it's just that I think more important things should have holidays. Such as the first black president in a country that has come so far from its origins. Or the birth of Beyonce's daught Blue Ivy. Ha. I'm kidding. But no. Once in a while just stop and think about the real meaning. Learn your history, because it also effects your future. Peace , Love, and Positivity !

Random Thinking

When you're are younger you are asked , "What do you want to be when you grow up?" And if you are like I am , each year I answered a different career each year; Teacher, Police, Doctor, Artist, Singer, Architect. But why do you have to just pick one? Why can't you be 3 things? Being that I am an African American , woman all my life I have been told I won't be anything. That I will get pregnant by a man that doesn't love me , I will drop out of high school, and that I will work in retail my whole life. Needless to say, I graduated top of my class , have no children, and I am enrolled in a top university. So don't let what people say you will be effect who you become. Take each opportunity you can. Work hard. If everything begins to fall apart keep striving. Your break through is coming. Nothing worth anything comes easy. I don't say this because I can I say this because I know. Strive for excellence. You deserve it. Love, Peace, and Positivity.

Went outside today and it is so HOT outside! I took my sister and my cousins to the pool and they loved it! So if you have to go make sure you are careful!

So today I learned about the Exposure Triangle. I went out to take videos and pictures with a VERY expensive Lumix HD camera. (Pictures soon) . We went to a bakery called Bread or something like that. I tried a grilled chicken sandwich. OH MY GOODNESS ! It was so nasty ! We walked past the White House and it was just as beautiful as it could be. By the way if you haven't already, REGISTER TO VOTE! I can't stress how important it is to vote ! So I started to take shots and videos in the city and a guy walks up and says HEY are you a photographer?? I say um no i'm an intern. He said well can you shoot a photo shoot for my new album?? I'm an artist! How bizarre ! /:

AFSCME Internship

Started my internship with AFSCME yesterday! The building is marble and more than 6 stories tall. Right next to it is a breakfast nook that has great breakfast food if you're Downtown check it out. I am currently working on my own video and I will post it to the blog. I'm working with a lady named Hey Chong and she captures and edits video clips for the organization. The union is amazing and there are so many nice people ! D.C never ceases to impress me. I forgot to post pictures of family day on the Navy Base in Virginia Beach . Which was great by the way. My weekend has been very busy which is why I haven't been able to post recently. Hope you're staying positive. Try to do at least one good deed today. Believe me , one day it will come in handy. Orientation Day

Went to visit my college Virginia Wesleyan today! I met my roommate and I'm not so sure about her but i'm staying positive. I signed up for my classes and got pretty good ones.  The campus isn't that big but it's FAR from home. Parties anyone ? (; I get to go into the dorm first because I'm in this special program called PORTfolio. The orientation wasn't what I imagined but I refuse to look at it negatively. Keeping my head up.
